PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This is an in-house instructional basketball program for children in kindergarten through second grade focused on fundamental skills plus rules and teamwork. This program was founded in 2025 to prepare younger athletes to participate in our third to twelfth grade basketball program when eligible.

 

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

• Age Group: Kindergarten, 1st Grade, & 2nd Grade Only

Kindergarteners: Co-ed, include both male and females.
1st & 2nd Graders: Combined grades, separated by gender.
• Format: Instructional, non-competitive program emphasizing fundamental basketball skills.

• Curriculum: Weekly sessions focusing on dribbling, passing, shooting form, and movement through drills and in-house scrimmages.

• Registration: Early September until late October.

• Season: Beginning of December until the end of February.

• Practices: 1-hour sessions, twice per week for the duration of the season. Most practices are half-court only utilizing a shared court.

• Scrimmages: Minimum of 1 per season, scheduled during established practice times at the end of season determined by coaches.

• Location: Local elementary school gymnasiums following EASD calendar determining building access. No food or beverages besides water permitted in buildings.

• Equipment: Size 5 developmental basketballs provided for each athlete to utilize during practice. All athletes will receive a personal team T-shirt for scrimmages.

• Coaches: Volunteers are needed for the program to be successful and are responsible for all team management activities. All coaches are required to have updated clearances on file with the organization prior to the start of the season.

• Communication: Commissioner communication is via email. Coach communication is via TeamSnap ONE, which parent/guardians can access online or utilize the app.
